Plenum Spacer...

I installed my Skunk2 5/8" spacer about 2 weeks ago. I noticed that the engine sounds MUCH louder after 3.5-4k RPMs while the engine is cool.... BUT, when the engine starts to warm up and goes to normal level.. it's not loud anymore, more like same to how it was before when it was stock. I also removed the engine cover, but nothing changed.

Anyone have any ideas as to why this is? Did I install it wrong? I didn't get to screw in a couple of screws, but it doesn't seem that I have any leaks. It idle's fairly normal/smooth.

Thanks,
Jeff

I dont know what you mean that you didnt get to screw in a couple screws. I think that is a bad thing when intakes are involved. Also, after looking at a picture of the Skunk kit, I dont see any internal supports for the 6 center columns. Did they provide those with the kit?

There are 2 little stick-looking supports on each side of the plenum for the stock plenum that you have to remove in order to put in the new screws. I didn't know how to remove them at first and someone from the forums said they didn't have to remove theirs, so I didn't. Also, they do have internal supports for the center. They provided 6 internal spacers.

I have the motordyne 1/2" spacer and I dont remember having to remove any stick shaped supports. But I have an 2003.5. Maybe they did something different on the newer plenums. Either way, I would make sure that every bolt position has a bolt in it and torqued properly. Also make sure you dont have the rubber oil fill collar stuck between the plenum and spacer.

Yeah, the rubber oil fill thing isn't stuck between the plenum and the spacer. I'll try to re-install and remove those little support stick things and hopefully that'll solve the problem.

Thanks,
Jeff
