Need info on Test Pipes and Headers please

Hi,

Sorry I started searching, but I keep finding different answers, etc. so I am asking again.

I am looking at getting Test pipes(Off road midpipe to replace my cats) and came across the intense power(resonated) ones and the stillen ones. Now there is a fair difference in price between the two and I am just wondering if any of you have tried these out and could comment on how you like them. I am running a true dual 304SS Bassani catback(straight through muffler design) so I want a test pipe that will not make the car really raspy cause that sounds like crap to me. Also, not really sure if I believe Stillens claim of 16rwhp/20rwtq vs. intense's 8-13rwhp gain.

Now for headers what brands have you guys/girls been using with success? The crawfords seem built nice, but at $1150 that is retarded because I cannot see them flowing that much better then others to justify the extra $600. How are the stillen and borla headers? The borla's seem to have a nice thick flange which should help agains leaks. What have you seen for gains in terms of tq/hp. We can do the install ourselves so that is no worries.

Thanks in advance!

Test pipes will give you a descent gain, but no where near Stillen's claim of 16whp/20wtq. I have no idea where they get there dyno's from, but I don't think it's from a real dyno machine. Anyways, header wise Crawford is by far the most popular and yes by many considered to be the best, but you are right there price is a little outrageous. Stillen and Borla are both ok, but won't show huge gains; probably around 7-11whp. I personally am going to go with Alphawerks headers who have shown a 17whp gain. Anyway, hope this helps. Good luck in your mod hunting.

I don't have any personal experience with Borla headers. But a local shop has installed them on 3 z's, and the shop hated it. Each install took somewhere in the neighborhood of 13 to 15 hours, but they could only charge 7 hours of "book time." Also, not a single one of the z's showed any gains on the dyno from the borla headers. Now, keep in mind this is all second hand; this is what the shop manager was telling me a few weeks ago the last time I was there.

Do you happen to have a link to Alphawerks website or anymore information on them? I also ordered the MREV+ lower intake which should be here in February. Think as far as test pipes I will look into the IntensePower ones since they are half the price of the Stillen pieces.

Thanks!

Bump.

Has anyone tried the Intensepower test pipes? They are resonated, just curious as I would like to order test pipes, but want a good brand that is not too expensive.

If you like stuff made by megan racing, then you'll like Intense Motorsports test pipes.

If you're going with test pipes, I'd recommend LaBree Motorsports reonated test pipes. They're good quality and aren't made in China like Megan Racing's stuff...
