Those who are using this air filter... how often do you clean it?? Every month? every other month? or once a year???

Unless you have all sorts of debree in your filter you shouldn't need to clean your filter more than once to twice a year. Take into consideration that some people tend to get their filters dirtier than others, but K&N doesn't recommend over oiling or over cleaning their filters. Hope that helps.

I've had mine in for like the past 4K miles and haven't cleaned it yet. The car is off the road for winter, but I'll be cleaning it once I put it back on. Last time I checked it was pretty fricken clean anyways so I'm not overly concerned. I thought the recommended cleaning interval was something like 5k-8K miles or so, but I am not certain about that.

Prior to switching over to the new Amsoil drop-in filter, I had a back up K&N in the waiting. If and when the K&N got fouled, I was simply going to switch it out for a new one and bypass the messy cleanup and potentially contamination of the MAF.

No, you do not need to clean the filter that often. Hell OEM doesn't even want you to change the stock air filter that often. Just do not over oil the filter or your motor will draw in the extra oil and foul your MAF wire which will give you poor performance and mess stuff up. If you do over oil it you can use an electrical contact cleaner or something like that to clean the MAF off.

Just wondering if the drop in Amsoil will make any better sounds than my stock one. Comment please. TIA

I just ordered a K&N today to replace my stocker @ 14k. Does it come pre-oiled? Are they hard to clean?

They do come pre-oiled and sealed in a plastic bag.

Yes. Just make sure you spray out on the K&N filter. Meaning spary water opposite the flow of air. Next make sure you DON'T over oil the filter element as too much oil will foul your maf sensor. Another thing, make sure your filter is fully dry before reinstalling it.

I would have to believe that whether you installed an Amsoil or a K&N filter alone, that one would notice much of a difference in intake and exhaust sound. However, I did notice a slight sound difference when I had originally installed the Z Tube and K&N filter together as a combo.

Currently, after I had installed MotorDyne's MREV Plus, the intake and exhaust note is a completely different animal . . . Everything is much louder for the better. With the the said mod in place, the sound remains the same whether I had the K&N filter installed or the Amsoil installed.
