Another Exhaust Thread!
So I'm trying to decide on an exhaust, but I would just like a FEW more opinions before I order at the end of this week.
I spoke with Doug from Crawford and he says that BORLA is the way to go. Sounds like stock, but louder. Is lighter than Stillen, but not as light as HKS. Still, good for the money.
STILLEN supposedly gives the most gains esp after 3500/4000, but is louder than most competitors. I can deal with loud, just not droaning at speed. I like the power gains part, but Doug told me that its heavy. If the exhaust is heavy, that would negate the gains over stock to a point.
HKS is sexy, but costs alot. $400 more than Stillen, $600 more than Borla. Stillen beats it in power by about 2-4hp. Not sure about the Borla.
MEAGAN, the jury is still out on that. Not fond of the tips not matching up.
INJEN looks pretty sexy too, kinda like the HKS but without the resonators. Not sure how it sounds though, but I would expect Injen to come with some power gains.
What I ask of all you is some hints, opinions, tips, experiences with these. I have read through many of the posts about these and would like to know if I am correct in my finds about the above.
Also, what is the installation like. Welding sucks and I don't want to have to do it. I would like to install it myself. The Borla looks like it needs welding... is this true? BTW, I will be getting Crawford cats for this set up as well.
Importance scale.
Sound- Like/louder than stock, but not set off car alarms loud
Power- Gotta have it.
Price- I can always save, but if all out is all out, then...
Weight- Can't be tooo heavy
Looks- Not that important.
Thank you in advance.

If you're installing yourself, and don't want to weld... then the Stillen has a distinct advantage of only coming in 4 major pieces. The Borla has a lot more, all held together by clamps.
For the sake of longevity, I'm not a big fan of exhausts that have a lot of different pieces, that are expected to be held together by a bunch of clamps along the way. You have to tighten the hell out of them, and they tend to loosen up or rotate over time.
I don't think this is a fatal flaw of the Borla, but something to consider. Especially if that $200 you save with the Borla, has to be spent at an exhaust shop to weld it up and make it stick.

I have researched the above and I decided on the HKS... I would rather have the quality than save a couple of bucks. After all were talking about a +30K car here, why save 2-600 bucks on such an important purchase?
Good luck on your choice

Agreed but..
Ok so what are your reasons for saying HKS is the best? Looks..performance...sound? I know it looks great and it has proven about 10-15hp gains...but the sound clips I have heard have been gurgly. It sounds great on when you are on the gas...but it seems when you let go of the gas it gurgles allot? Could it be the sound clips I have heard? Where can I find the best representation of the sound of this exhaust?

The Stillen only weighs maybe 5-10 lbs more than the stock exhaust. Go on a diet and you can make up for it...

Ok... I am feeling the Stillen too. HKS seems to be pretty awesome looking and performing just under the Stillen, however, does anyone have any info on the INJEN? I am wondering about that because of how similiar it looks to the the HKS but without the resonators.
Also, will high flow Crawford cats make any of these apps drastically different? Waaaay loud or have the gruggle (which I understand to be a product of a free flowing exhaust, not necessarily the design of the exhaust)?

When you installed the Greddy, did you have your FI set up yet? Or is this a common fact amongst the Greddy exhaust?
And with the Greddy, do you get the massive high end throttle that you do with Stillen and HKS?

You just have money up to your ears don't you! Jesus.... IF I EVER get a supercharger I would be happy enough. The day I can say when I had my SC and now my TT.... along with... my TT Z that I ALSO have...
Crazy... Must be nice.
At this point, I don't know what I want. Power and looks or sound and TQ.
Here is a sound/vid clip I made yesterday, unfortunately I had to slow down for traffic.

Made using a Nikon digital camera, with the windows up.
I've got the Borla Cat-Back, it had a little drone at 70mph, but the
headers and Crawford cats seem to have eliminated the drone while
improving the WOT sound.
