K&N CAI

Has anyone heard anything about the long awaited K&N CAI for our G's?
We seem to have been waiting so long for it, and I wouldn't mind getting one b4 I trade the car in. Any news?

Yeh, that was Socalmmr, and he's heard nada lately either. I've waited so damn long for the K&N, but if they don't hurry up, I'm going with Injen too, and be done with it.

Re: K&N CAI

I waited and waited for either the AEM or The K&N. Got tired of waiting for it So I got the INJEN RD 1992. Now I have lovely sounds coming out of my engine compartment at WOT. I also just picked my Custom Flowmaster Exhaust from JimTheGreek. I'll put it on in a week when my Thermal Research Tips come in.

Re: K&N CAI

oh shoot. i didnt get a chance to call, but i will try to make the call on monday when they open. im keeping my fingers crossed they have a final product out that is even better than the beta model i tested. the one i have is superb already, but an airbox like stillens would be an awesome addition. much better combination than the 350z tube with the stillen box, IMHO.

Re: K&N CAI

i got a hold of james at K&N today and asked about the FAI for the sedan. It seems that they already have the finished product and are ready to pack and begin selling it within a few weeks. I got about a 9 hp increase i think...if i remember correctly. and thats without a heat shield...i can only imagine what the gains would be if paired with the stillen high flow box.

Re: K&N CAI

I was the first to drop my car off at K&N (June of 2002). I have seen several versions of the FAI, and testing was also done with the CAI, what was shown is that the CAI did not have any advantage for use in the sedan.

I have been very pleased with this kit, and the development process by K&N. If you are not pleased with what you have heard, or by the amount of time that has gone by waiting for the K&N FAI kit, get second best.

Keep in mind the reputation of K&N, they have put more into development to make sure that the final test kit is in fact the best kit for every car, not just that one car that mad 12 more horsepower at the wheels(my G35).

With all the crap that has been posted about how Injen's kit has caused stalls at high speed, and other related problems, I don't see why any of you would be in such a hurry to use kits that haven't had the lengthy test that the K&N kits have had.

I have been very pleased, my car peak made 12hp at the wheels, and with the GReddy cat back exhaust I have made even more. The K&N kit will retail between $175.-$225. that is very inexpensive for the return (Compared to the 2-3hp gain I have heard people are getting from the borla headers for $700.+)

So for all of you that can wait, the best is still yet to come, and for those of you who have already purchased something else, good luck, and I hope everthing has worked okay for you.

My Best,
Frank

Re: K&N CAI

Hey dude, Some of us have waited over a year now, so a little while longer won't matter much.
But there is a limit. If you can shed any light on it's arrival, we'd appreciate it.

Re: K&N CAI

well, james told me it should only be a few more weeks before its release. so for FAI, that means "forced air intake" CAI means "cold air intake". the intake i have looks to me like a short ram type intake. i have had no problems with stalling, or anything else people have reported with other intakes. sounds awesome...and once i hvae in my technosquare ecu, no more resetting every month yay.
