Esprit Power Intake Kit vs Crawfort Plenum

Has anyone tried this Esprit Power Intake Kit? $495 seems so expensive. Do you think we can make one up? This competes directly with the Crawford Plenum but this has a better look...

http://www.bulletproofautomotive.com...il.php?ID=1172 = $495

http://mywebpages.comcast.net/crawfordzcar/plenum.htm = $500

More fancy ones at $1100

Re: Esprit Power Intake Kit vs Crawfort Plenum

The Esprit is just a spacer that raises up the entire top of the plenum, so it doesn't equalize the height difference between the front and rear cylinders like the Crawford does. Also, it is my understanding that because of the added height, to install the Esprit, you need to shorten the motor mounts or dome the hood. BTW, if cost is not an object and you want "a better look", have you seen the Bling Crawford. Look for the thread here and at my350z.com. I do have a Crawford, and it's astounding.

lowrider,

Are you sure about the hood clearance being an issue for the G35s?

Doesn't the G35 Sedan (Coupe) have more hood clearance than the 350Z.

Re: Esprit Power Intake Kit vs Crawfort Plenum

It's an issue with the Crawford. Not as tight as the Z. The Z Crawford needs a dent in the front, just left of center. The G doesn't. I can fit the engine cover on, however it rubs the underhood insulation. The Z has no insulation, but does have the STB, which you can't use with either the Crawford or the Esprit. With all that being said. Am I positive about the clearance on the G - No. But, my guess, with a 90% assurity factor is - Yes, clearance is an issue.

Stillen has a raised hood for the 350Z. I wonder if the two manifolds would fit nicely with the Stillen hood.

Re: Esprit Power Intake Kit vs Crawfort Plenum

From the picture of the Esprit, it seems the entire plenum is raised and therefore increasing air flow to all cylinders, especially in the back. Using stock plenum, the air is starved for the front pair of cylinders, the spacer increases that space thus provide more air. Since this is made in Japan, I am only curious if any Japanese subscriber here have tried it out.

BTW, Lowrider, the Bling Crawford is my third link on my original post.. $1100 is way too expensive as I don't care about the look. Just want it to look stock. Sleeper kind of guy.

The Espirit spacer adds 10mm in height vs. stock. Just go measure your Crawford rise and compare the two...

the Crawford rise is only in the front, the Esprit raises the whole top. I would assume that would make a dofference.

Why don't one of you guys buy the Espirit and let me know if it fits before I buy one!

And I thought you were going to suggest I buy both and maybe gain double the HP? A fter all they will both work on the same engine... LOL

Let's see what the bonus is for this year and maybe

Re: Esprit Power Intake Kit vs Crawfort Plenum

You know the crawford has been flowbenched to equalize the air flow to every cylinder to within 5%. If I recall reading about crawfords R&D leading up to their final design, they did not net possitive benefit's in raising the whole pleneum vs just the front. No doubt this is do to sound engineering in flow dynamics in the other 4 cylinders that aren't starved for air.

Being that we know the Crawford is sound engineering, that works. So what if the esprit spacer fix's the flow restriction to the 2 30% air starved cylinders. Does is give equal flow to the other 4? If not is the increased flow to those other cylinders happen in a positive manner? Or does it induce flow dynamics that hurt the power deliver, low end? or high end? Hey, maybe it is better, but we KNOW the crawford's result's and we know their work to equailize flow. I see to many things we don't know about the esprit spacer and of the effect's itself may or may not deliver. Not a item worth the $$ risk, not unless someone like a magizine test's it and pays for it. Especially since you have the already proven crawford.

Re: Esprit Power Intake Kit vs Crawfort Plenum

It's just too damn bad it not more attractive or lets you fit the engine cover over it CORRECTLY.....I have a problem with my cover being up so high on my oil cap and hood clearance issue.....anyone in s G35 coupe add a supercharger/Turbo with a Crawford Plenum?
