I thought you checked out my pictorial on the DIY https://g35driver.com/forums/showthr...t-back+install. Cast your beady lil' eyes below Note the small extensions at the base of the front ramps to prevent the front spoiler lip from touching. If you're flying solo.....have a few different lengths of wood avail. to block the exhaust sections as you go along. Only finger snug bolts as you go along until the final alignment is right and where you want it. jbx

JBX,

Of course I did! I was just trying to figure out how to use my jackstands since I already have them (things like this were much easier on my F-150). From what I have seen, the proper placement for the jackstands is under the side sills but I am just not comfortable with this because it seems like the top of the jackstands would damage/bend something.

G35_TX had a good suggestion to place them under the spring sets. I will either try that or buy a second set of ramps and place them under the rear wheels like you did with the wood blocks.

On another subject, if I were to replace the gaskets how many do I need? Does the Stillen package include some gaskets or will I need to buy new ones for all of the connections? Is this a trip to the dealer or can I get these at an auto parts store?

Thanks for everyones help!

You can buy gaskets from performancenissanparts.com (that's where I got mine when I swapped out my Y-pipe and installed the coupe middy). They run between $7 and $10 each and you need one at each pipe termination/joint.

Exhaust arrived today! I will install tomorrow after I dyno with OEM exhaust.

I did almost have a heart attack when I was reading through the instructions. The instructions say that 3 clamps are included, however, I only had two. I thought here we go, now I have to call Stillen and WAIT for another one to get here. I was so pissed!

I then laid out the entire exhaust on my garage floor and realized only two are needed. Maybe the instructions have not been updated for the Gen II exhaust.

Anyway, I went back and looked at JBX's DIY again and it was confirmed - only two clamps needed.

I can't wait until tomorrow!

I just installed mine. Full write up in a few days. But there were three clamps on the Gen1 exhaust. See pic.

Two in front of the mid pipe chrome pieces and one right behind the right one.

Ahhh, now I see, the original design came with 5 pieces. The one I have only has 4 pieces, the y pipe, the two mid pipes with resonators, and the rear section with muffler.

Looks great. Where did you find a Gen I? I asked Stillen if they were still selling them and they said no.

The pic helps with the jackstand question I had.

Thanks.

The Gen1 was used. I bought it off of Godmans.

The exhaust is now installed. It took about 3 hours by myself (but I am really slow when it comes to things like this). Fitment was perfect and materials and manufacturing look to be top quality. The only negative I can come up with is that the instructions suck. You would think Stillen would update these for the Gen II exhaust. Oh well, the install is fairly easy so instructions weren't really needed (especially with the help of JBX's DIY).

The car sounds sounds AMAZING. Tomorrow I will go out and record some sound clips with my digital camera and get them posted.

As promised I dynoed the car this morning before the install to establish a baseline. I will post the chart tomorrow as well. I have another dyno scheduled for next saturday morning so we can all see how effective a mod the Stillen catback is.

I have to say it is worth it for the sound alone, however, the butt dyno is also very happy based on about 25 miles of test driving today.

All in all, I love this exhaust.

After hearing my Gen II, I would really like to hear a Gen I. Mine is pretty loud. If the Gen I is significantly louder like some have said it must be a real head turner.

By the way, the jack stands under the rear spring sets worked perfectly, thanks again for the help!
