Guys Ive searched a lot.. So please don't flame.
I had the HKS HI POWER on my S2000, and though it didn't add any power, it was my favorite of the 3 aftermarket exhausts I had. It looked clean (subjective), but sounded soooo deep and rumbly, no drone/rasp, and had a nice throaty pitch.
I can't find explanations on the exhaust. I hear it's the best, expensive, etc etc... But no descriptions. How does it sound?
I guess you could say I am considering Borla, HKS, Stillen, and Fujitsubo.

I want it to be of high quality - proper fitment.
Not too loud. I will not be changing cats or headers, FWIW. Just cat-back.
Deep and throaty, no drone/rasp.
Power is nice, but honestly last concern.

Thanks!

G35 Coupe "Sport Package"
I have an 05 5AT coupe with DC headers, Crawford Cats, JIC Y-pipe and Fuji exhaust. I am very happy with this setup during long highway cruise or in and around town when I play with the auto shift. Deeper tone, but growls when pushed. Sounds nice when downshifting so it must sound awesome with 6sp. If I ever get enough money saved for a second toy it is back to the manuel for weekend fun rides. Need the 5AT for the DC and Balt. commute as 6sp is tiring in this traffic. All I can say is that this exhaust system sounds good on my car and I believe many others feel the same way. If I did not already have the y-pipe I may have gone with HKS.

I think a lot of the Magnaflow drone can be eliminated by using a Magnaflow resonator matched to the particular Magnaflow muffler you buy. I've had two shops tell me same thing.

Nismo jdm weldina exhaust--perfect fit--nice deep growl--but you will need deep pockets--+2k. For that price, the amuse titanium is not that much more...

There is no such thing as matching a resonator to a muffler. You have to slow or speed up the pulse enough to cancel out the undesirable frequency to get rid of the drone - there is actually technology behind all of this. This means adding or taking away mufflers or resonators to a system until the combination is either right or bearable enough to live with. In the process, you could loose HP and TQ and negate the whole reason for buying the exhaust to begin with.

The reason you have to do this is because the wrong muffler is used to begin with, or the design was never meant to be for your taste, however it happened to fit your budget....that's a bad reason to buy an exhaust, and the NUMBER ONE reason many of us buy 2-3 exhaust systems for our cars.

It's really hard to buy and exhaust system without hearing live on a car that has had it installed for more than 3-4 weeks, once the car has been driven at least 20-30 minutes. You then have to test drive it for about 10-15 minutes in real situations and let the car rest for another 20-30 minutes and do it again. This is the ONLY way to really hear what an exhaust system will really sound like.

Now...if you know me - this is hard for me to say, as I am currently marketing a new exhaust system that is currently on Group Buy and doing VERY well.

I'll stop the sales pitch here and if your interested PM me or search for Fast Intentions.

The only other thing I want to leave you with is this:
You have to know what you want to hear and not want to hear, and what you want to gain from changing your exhaust. Asking a bunch of people what the best exhaust is is like asking everyone what the best color car is to buy. It's too personal of a question to ask. Only you know what you like.

I'm on my third exhaust system Stillen....Borla
and my current system is Magnaflow with Top
Speed Y-pipe. I don't have a drone problem just
a deep growl that doesn't sound anything like
the factory system. Most of this is due to the
other mods I've made Stillen CAI...MD 1/2" spacer
and the Z-Tube.

Single exhausts, not duals, will get you those results, especially with 1/2 way decent y-pipes. The y-pipe will slow everything down and force the pulse cancellation.

My guess is that you hated the stillen and borla due to drone, the most common complaint in my R&D...it's fixable, but you loose all the performance gain and practically return the system to stock sound as well.

There is a true dual system out there that is droneless

ok...done...Rick
