Intake & Exhaust Questions and info regarding various aftermatket exhaust systems for the G35 (Headers,Y-Pipes, and Cat-Back Systems)

I want to keep my stock exhaust/cats. Any point in changing to Strup headers?

As the question states. What do you guys think? Most header threads I have seen also have aftermarket exhaust. I don't have the money right now to do the other stuff and frankly don't want to mess with emission too much (pretty strict here). But i DO want:

1) A bit more rumble

2) A bit more torque in the low rpm (not sure if headers will even achieve this but I'm just throwing it out there)

Should I go for the headers? I am not debating headers here...i'm going for strup. I just want to know if it's worth it if i'm not changing out my cat or exhaust.

I already have: MRev+, Sillen CAI, Z-Tube on my 06 6MT....

What planet are you from.............

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think headers are
emmisions legal anywhere. You've made some good
mods already and I think your next mod should be
a good cat-back system.....air in exhaust out.......
quickly!! With your intake and spacer a cat-back
should be worth 14 rwh.......

Nobody at emission testing stations will notice the headers or give you hard time about it. I seriously doubt they know what stock headers look like or look under there to see if it has emission legal stickers on there.

hmm why would headers affect emissions? I thought if I left the cat alone it would be OK....

if you're going to be doing headers do high flow cats at the same time (should be able to pass emissions easily; and even if you can't, it's a 20minute job to swap them)......the sound with the stock catback is unbelieveable with headers+hfc. To give you an idea of how loud it is, in our garage when I cold start up my car it sets off my dad's alarm in his q45 ^_^

+1. Most people do the catback first mainly because its the cheapest/easiest exhaust mod. And usually does provide some gain. But the stock manifolds and cats are where the main restriction is. Its more expensive, but for immediate performance, its better to start at the engine and work backwards.
