Intake & Exhaust Questions and info regarding various aftermatket exhaust systems for the G35 (Headers,Y-Pipes, and Cat-Back Systems)

Can anyone confirm that the 05-06 G35 airboxes have a built in velocity stack?

I know the 350Z does, just want to make sure the G35's do too.

Supposedly speeds up and smooths out the air flow.

IMO both of them have a velocity stack, just that the 05-06 have a larger lip =)

save your money and buy an intake setup that has a velocity stack on a cone filter like...jwt, stillen, or weapon-r

like andy2434 has shown, g35's do have a velocity stack... i know mine does since i've swapped out oem filter for an amsoil nano drop-in filter and realized it had a velocity stack...

A velocity stack is for smoothing out the intake air flow.... makes air flowing through the intake manifold more laminar and with slightly higher pressure as opposed to air flowing turbulently and causing pressure drop....

THanks man, appreciate it. How do you like the amsoil drop in filter? Im on the fence between a "Green" air filter, nismo, or blitz.

The amsoil filter is oiled correct?

The amsoil nano filter i installed is a dry non-oiled filter and can be cleaned and re-used, albeit vacumming the dirty side, so no chance of over-oiling to foul up the MAF sensor... airflow should exceed oem filter and should work as good as k&n filter... its light blue in color too... about the same in terms of cost but not sold everywhere although you can get it directly thru them from their website.

Here is the back side of the stock '05 airbox. This is where the MAF would bolt up to. Inside the box is the blue Amsoil Nano drop-in filter. I originally used a K&N filter. I switched to the Amsoil for better filtration and ease of cleaning. Now, with the Stillen Hi-Flow set-up, I am back to washing and oiling.
