Just Installed Intake!!!

Ok all I can say is WOW.. I put on the 350z pipe and Stillen Intake.. First of all i reset my ECU like 3 days ago and my car regained a lil edge.. It seemed to rev faster and a lil more smother, and quicker throttle responce.. I recommend anyone who hasnt done this to do IT!!!!

Anyways I got today in the mail.. My eyes were lit up.. It was a pretty easy install except for the 1 bolt that you had to put on the base of the Stillen.. VERY tight and cant see nothing.. And the filter was a lil tricky to mount but other then that easy..

As far as driving the exhaust is majorly louder above 3500k and up.. It is much more deeper and louder especially at WOT.. The wistle noise that it makes is priceless.. You can hear it almost all the time. As far as performance it feels like there is better throttle responce as well as a faster acc..

I know this mod is pretty expensive and doesnt look the best but it is a great mod.. I highly reccomend it.. Plus after driving for 15 min I reset the ECU again and nothing but joy

Infidsg35,

You need to do an ECU reset again! With all that extra air slamming
thru your 350Z duct, an ECU reset is called for. I'm still in awe
at my 350Z/Stillen setup. I don't even need to go to WOT to
get a very satisfying Howl from the engine. I passed some slow
poke yesterday with the throttle half way down, the Howl must
scare these Corolla drivers bretty good. Man I love it!

Re: Just Installed Intake!!!

I reset it afterwords cause I wanted the ECU to learn the new air flow that the duct/stillen was giving.. So it would see that as the norm.. Plus I felt such a diff when I reset it that I recommend to do this at least once a month.. Plus I used the reset steps not the bat. disconnect.

I hear it a half throttle also but when you hit it the exhaust realy comes to life.. I love the wistle that it gives..

I realy can wait to hear it with the Borla and Crawford

Welcome to the Z-Pipe Stillen club! If you think that is bad ***, wait until you add an exhaust. Pure bliss! Install an earthing kit if you have not done so already. Like night and day.

Cato, you making a trip to Austin to see the Z Show on the 20th? C'mon, your folks would probably be happy to get a visit from you.

Re: Just Installed Intake!!!

Damn man I have the same setup on my coupe and all I can say is WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I still need to do a reset though.

Anyway I had one problem with it. When I was on the freeway doing about 80 I press the clutch in and let the RPM's drop to idle and then my car stalls. I thought it only happened with INJEN but I guess not. I tried to do it again but I couldnt get it to stall. Maybe it was a freak accident but who knows Ill keep you guys posted if anything new happens.

Re: Just Installed Intake!!!

mbarrad,

I'm seriously considering driving up to Austin Friday night
to go to the show Saturday afternoon. The wife has her plans and
the daughter has a birthday party to go to on Saturday.
The show sounds like fun.
Might bring my dad with me.

Cool. I'll be looking forward to meeting you and your dad. You can get a chance to hear the exhaust. Maybe even go for a ride to listen from the inside of the cabin. Hopefully we will have good weather. I'm excited because this will be my first car show that I have entered in ever!

Re: Just Installed Intake!!!

Long-time lurker (well, for about a month), first-time poster, new G35 owner. . .

I've ordered the 350Z duct and Stillen airbox. Will I need to reset the ECU in my 6MT to gain the full benefits?

I never had to do any ECU resets on my S2000 after installing mods.

Re: Just Installed Intake!!!

Fireball, yes you should reset the ECU. Even on the S2000, when I installed an AEM CAI, the instructions said to reset the ECU as well. The computer has to unlearn the stock setup and learn your new setup.

Re: Just Installed Intake!!!

rstark, are you on s2ki.com (I'm guessing you're the same "rstark" there). I'm "Silver Bullet" over there.

Although I never installed a CAI on my S2000, I did install a JR filter and Comptech cat-back. I never came across any recommendations to reset my ECU. I guess I'll look into the ECU reset process for the G.

Re: Just Installed Intake!!!

Do you reset the ECU before or after the modification? What would be the right way to reset it instead of disconnecting battery?

Re: Just Installed Intake!!!

Do the modification, then do the easy ECU reset.

Re: Just Installed Intake!!!

Firmed up my plans with the parents for this weekend. I'm
driving up to Austin Friday evening ( can't wait to drive the
twisty mountain road 2222 Saturday!) and drive up to Round
Rock Saturday for the Nissan event Saturday afternoon.
Guess I'll look for a Twlight Blue sedan that looks just like mine!
See ya there mbarrad.

Re: Just Installed Intake!!!

Great Dave, I'll see you there. Just be careful on 2222. Cops are bad over there lately since the legislature passed the 6 point rule. I'll be there around 9:00. The judging takes place around 11:00, and the meet is over at around 3:00.
