How much WHP is expected from I/H/E?
How much WHP is expected from I/H/E?
I'm still not familiar with what kind of response the VQ35 has to a simple Intake/Header/Exhaust set-up. I was wondering if anyone here has personal dynos or 1/4 times with the following set up. I came from having a RSX Type-S and I/H/E gave the car a drastic increase in WHP, just on CAI you feel a great improvement. From what I hear on here though the CAI for the G35 you gain nothing but a mildy cooler engine. I personally want to be a low 13 second car or a mid 12.5, if you can point me into what to do N/A wise that'd be great. I'm not to fond of the F/I route.
Edit*** I have a 2004 6MT G35 Coupe
Does anyone make a stroker kit for the G?

you won't see 12.5 n/a here, haha
i'm satisfied with mine. probably mid 13s............after the i/h/e (well, exhaust only being hfc and retaining stock catback, hehehee) I noticed HUGE amount of pulling power that definately wasn't there before.

12's is just not gonna happen with all motor. only few people have been close to 300whp with ALL boltons. get the following. Plenum Spacer, headers, ypipe, or full dual exhaust, test pipes/hf cats. with all that air you will need to balance out your a/f ratio. get either technosquare ecu reflash with a dyno sheet, AEM wideband, or something along those lines to get more out of your engine. finally add cams and you should be near or hopefully above 300whp. if your looking for 12's save ALL your money and go either S/C the cheaper route, or single/twin turbo...
Thanks for all the good info guys. It's sort of hard to weed out things on this forum because I'm used to the ClubRSX layout. It sucks that there isn't something like Hondata for Nissans/Infinits, not too sure if you guys are familiar with that, but it's one hell of a program.
If you build your motor you can achieve the 12's but you will be doing internals and an engine management. I wouldnt do TechnoHell the tune is an est on the mod you have. For $100 less you get the Greddy E-manage Ultimate and you can tune each cylinder to point if you want to get crazy with it. Even in Japan right now the big thing is NA VQ motors. They are getting like 330 RWHP with plenum/intake, Headers, exhaust, and cams, Im sure tuning has a huge part to play in that but it is possible and much safer then FI.

With the limited experience I have seen.
1) Headers are not worth the money or the time to install for what little gains you get from them.
2) Intakes help some, depending on the model you choose.
3) Exhausts, get a true dual exhaust like Stillens/Borlas and it will gain some as well.
Low 13s isn't really possible with a G35 with bolt ons without some type of FI or NOS. I expect mid to high 13s at best.

Sure, if a person were to get the $2500 Veilside headers and pay $1000 for the install, it's definitely not worth it for the gains in power (and they're getting screwed for the install).
Stillen Exhaust for example, $800-1000 new. You can bolt it on yourself, or $150 for a install and get 15~ hp.

2) true dual exhaust will loose you downlow torque (but make up for uptop power)........headres make power EVERYWHERE and loose NOWHERE
3) sure, if you're a tard and spend $1000+ for nismo or crawford. OR you could spend 400 for strup or 300 for topspeed (both with EXCELLENT build/weld quality), then another 3-400 to install.
headers > exhaust
Btw, do you actually have headers or are you just parotting what you've read? (my comments come from my actual experiences w/ them)
edit: what the problem is, imho, is that people expect headers to perform the same on here as on a V10 Viper, like +40rwhp.......it ain't gona happen like that, so then they get all poopy and say they're a waste
