Question Z-tube on a 06 6MT coupe

Anyone put a z-tube in a 06 6MT coupe? How difficult is it to do, are there any mods or is it a straight replacement?

I’ve had mine for just over two months. I had a 03 6MT sedan before this one. I love the coupe. It is so smooth when you get on it compared to the G35 sedan I had. Good luck with yours.

Check your PM.

BTW, a Z Tube is a direct replacement. Its just the tube that goes between the throttle body, and the stock airbox or cone type filter (weapon r, popcharger)

As, OC 350GTCoupe has stated the Z tube is a direct replacement for your OEM intake tube.

All you need are a 10mm and 8mm socket/rachet, nut drivers or a phillips and a flat headed screw driver. The sockets will make the task go much easier. The very first time it may take you some 30 minutes to remove and replace. Subsequent installs/removals will take you a mere 5 to 10 minutes tops, once you have done it once.

Guys... noob question...

What's the 350Z intake tube do for you on a G35 Sedan? Is there a noticable power bump? Would it make a G35 Sedan sound more like a Z? Is there benefit to adding a Z-tube without a JWT Popcharger? Can a Popcharger be put on without a Z-tube?

No noticable HP gains.

Yes you can add either with or without the other.

The z tube simply d/n have the baffles like the g tube.

Sound is the major advantage, and works best w/ other breather mods.

From what I've read.... K&N drop in + Z tube + 5/16 MD spacer. (or 1/2 spacer) is one of the better valued upgrades. Note that this is the only intake mod I've done to a G, so I can not compare to other aftermarket setups.

Personally... I'm very happy w/ the results. Sounds great at 3k RPM+, and the mental/butt dyno can tell the difference.

Good luck!

So is there a significant difference in sound between adding a JWT Popcharger to a G35 Sedan vs. adding a JWT Popcharger *AND* a Z-Tube?

Has anyone done a comparison?

What I'm trying to get is a more agressive sound without changing out the exhaust (it's a leased car, and I can swap in and out an intake quickly if required).

It's more aggressive under load. It sounds mean....but only when you want it to. As far as the sedan goes, the exhause is fairly quiet so you only hear the engine. When I have time to install the HKS rear section, she'll be singing an entirely new toon.

Make sure the Z tube isn't rubbing on the AC line when you install it. If it does, it can put a hole in the line and will costs you hundreds in repair.
