A good body shop can probably match w/o blending, but blending would definately help for a good match.

I would say anything IP should be blended into the surrounding panels because its impossible to match the color perfectly. There will always be variations in the pearl because of the difference in spray techniques. You may not be able to see the difference from every angle, but I can guarantee that you will notice it at some point if you don't get it blended.

Redlude is correct....If they don't blow in the paint or blend it into the adjacent panels, you will more than likely see the shading/color difference since it will be a definitive line separating the panels.....

Here is a shot or two of my front bumper which I repainted this past summer. In most lighting it looks pretty good, but at night under flourescent lighting, the front bumper shows much more of a pearl finish than the other stock painted panels....

Hope this helps

I would like to clarify the meaning of blending into adjacent panels. Does it mean the shop is going to paint the whole adjacent panels or just part of it? For example, if I am going to paint my door, the shop has to paint the front fender, rear fender and side skirts?

A good shop will sand the all of the adjacent panels, but only spray the color on part of the panel, "blending" into the old color, then they should reclear the entire panel. Don't let them get away with only reclearing part of the panel because that may cause adhesion problems in the future.
