Help swapping tail lights to 2006 JDM?

I'm thinking about getting some of the JDM 06 tails for my 03 coupe, and after a fair amount of searching, I can't seem to find any instructions on how to install them on the board. I noticed someone said if you have an 03-05 you'll have to make some modifications to the wiring...can anyone who has done this already elaborate please I don't have a manual with my car, so I don't really know if that information is in there or not...

hmm..i would think its a direct swap. only difference is that the 06's have a trunk button..

remove the trunk liner there will be three nuts and bolts...undo them and i think the tail light should pop right out

you know they have 03-05 jdm tails available too, right?

yea its a direct swap just like hero said but for the trunk button i just left mine alone i dont like to mess with electrical stuff. yea remove the plastic liner, then i had to remove the clips for the that hold the cargo net up then there are 3 8MM nuts you have to take off on each tail light. then the tail lights come right out and u just have to unplug the harness. and put in the JDMs and do reverse order. it only took me only 15 mins to put mine in. so i hope that helps you

welcome to the 06' jdm club.. ^^^

To the OP:

1) Once you actually look inside the trunk..you'll see a bunch of push pins.

2) Remove those push pins from both sides with a flat-head.

3) You're going to have to pry out the plastic trimming where the trunk latch lock is.. do it carefully.. and one side at a time.. don't do both sides @ the same time because you might get too anxious and break the tabs. Do one side at a time and it's going to snap right out of place.

4) Then you'll see (from the top of my head.. from what I can recall) 3 nuts?.. or bolts? I forgot.. but i'm pretty sure they're nuts, that you have to unbolt for each tailight.

5) From there you're going to remove the tailight.. but do it slowly because the wiring harnesses are still attached to the tailight (obviously).. so remove all the bulbs..

6) yada yada.. and rinse, lather, and repeat for the other side.

7) The inner most bolt, is the hardest one to get at. It is behind a part of the frame so it's kinda tricky to get at. However, patience will get you through it..

I highly suggest also, if you could, loosen the bolts with the tools you prefer.. however, remove the bolts with your hands.. you wanna make sure you have the bolts in your hands and won't risk dropping them inside the innerlining of the trunk.

This write up is for non 06' models.. not too sure on how the trunk button wiring will work with the 06's. However, it shouldn't be too confusing. Upon removing the stock tailights.. you should be able to see which wire goes to the trunk button and the such...

Good luck people.. hope this helps!

If it's still confusing for you guys.. i'll try to take and post some pics so it'll ease your struggle. But it's pretty straight forward once you look at it in plain view.

Excellent! Thanks for the replies, especially to I22. I ordered my tails from Chad earlier this evening so hopefully they'll be here soon to test your advice out.

does anybody know if the jdm tail lights light up differently if you look at some of the videos where top secret is driving around their g35 all 4 led circles are on to resemble a skyline where as with ours the 2 outer circles only light up when you signal or have the emergency lights on and if there is a way to get all 4 to light up can someone point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated cus thats the look I'm trying to go for thanks alot
