The last time I checked, roark (over on my350z) had not measured a G35 to see if his would work.

But it sort of looks like someone else in that thread is making one now. Or maybe he just had one made for his car?

Not sure, but from the sound of it....Roark's would end up trimming the bumper as well.

Hopefully a solution comes along soon so I don't have to trim the rear fascia.

I got sick of waiting.... so I built my own super heavy duty hitch.

It's about 90% complete as I write this, I still need to weld on some safety chain holders, some type of trailer plug in housing, and paint it.

I'll post some pics after I've got it all done.

I'm thinking it should easily pull 2,000 lbs and have a tounge rating of at least 500 lbs.

Enough to pull 2 street bikes on a trailer.... no problem.

Now.... how the hell to do the wirering ???

For the wiring, does this help?

How are you connecting your hitch to the G?

Also note that the owner's manual says you are not supposed to tow more than 1000 pounds.

Still not done... progress has been slow... very busy at work.

Got the wirering figured out.

Contact points are, those 2 big suspension/body bolts in front of the spare tire cage, the tow / tie down bracket on the right rear, and muffler bracket for the left rear.

The reciever is 90%, 2" x 2" x 3/16" wall steal tubing, and yes, it's overkill I know, but I'ld rather be safe than sorry.

1000 pound is just what I plan on pulling.

and as for a 28' boat......... sure it'll pull that, as long as it's an Air Boat.

Why would you want to pull a 28' boat with a G35?

Even if the hitch did hold up I don't see you making it up a ramp.

I can't wait to see a finished product. BTW, how are you going to be certain of the tow ratings?

Finally got the receiver finished and installed...

As for the Tow ratings, well besides the fact that I think I could safely pick the car up off the ground with this thing, I guess only my knowledge of bolt strenghts, years of fabricating work, and real world testing will prove the answer to that one.

After looking at the Hitches that were available for the G, I decided to make my own. Quite frankly nothing looked stout enough or designed well enough for me to trust to put on my car and tow my motorcycle behind it.

I thought about makeing the Hitch hidden, but that would have been at the expense of modifying the stock bumper, and that just wasn't something I wanted to do.

With what I have now, I can always remove it easy enough and be right back where I started.

This reciever wieghs in at about 40 lbs., which is a little heavier than what I wanted but it's what I had for materials laying around.

I'll try and take some pictures from behind the car tonight.
