fisheyes

so guys..I bought a type CF js hood from seibon and i had my boyd shop wetsand/scuff it..then they applied a few coats of paint over it and then clear...all said and done the whole hood fisheye'd..so they wetsanded it again...and sprayed 2 coats of paint on the hood and it fisheye'd right away...could seibon have used a defective resin when applying the carbon fiber sheeting to it? anyone else have this problem?

how has everyone else painted their seibon CF hoods?did you guys scuff it at all or just paint over the clear?

p.s.carbonlimited is trying to help me out but I just wanted to see if there was anything on my part that was done wrong.

If its fisheying, then the paint isn't bonding to the resin correctly, this may mean the resin still has residual release agents, or is a waxed resin, which has a wax incorporated into the resin which rises to the surface and allows the outer surface to harden. However, this may not allow paint to adhere properly. I don't think you are going to be able to get seibon to admit their hood was "defective" because technically it isn't, its just the type of resin used.

Its the release they use in the mold. I had the same problem. Just tell then to wetsand it and shoot more clear on it. I ended up with six coats of clear.

BTW its not a problem with Seibon. Its just what happens with CF. After I cut and buffed mine it looked like glass.
