reinforcing fiberglass?

hey guys just wondering...out of curiousity lets say for arguments sake that you have a fiberglass front bumper..like a greddy or so...and lets say that you want to make the bumper stronger being that the front of teh car would take the most abuse from the road.....what would be your options? add more layers of fiber? add a lot of primer? etc...any help is cool.thanks

Clear bra it, some places do a liquid clear bra thats like 9-10mm thick, and its solid, looks like nothing.

You do realize 9-10mm is about 3/8" thick right?
04Gwhiz, what are trying to prevent? Clear bra is number one way to prevent chipping.
Cracking/breaking, not much you can do except be careful. Its the nature of fiberglass.

yeah thats basically what i was trying to prevent chipping and such..but it seems the clear bra would have to be a custom job on an aftermarket front bumper...just trying to find out my options..can you wax on top of clear bra?does it swirl or anything?

Clear bra is very popular, wouldn't be surprise if they have some for aftermarket bumper. If they don't, it never hurt to ask.
I would pass on the wax, because their could be some discoloration.

Liquid clear bra, moreless they dip it in the solution and let it dry out. kinda cool actually, i saw it on a car when i picked up my car from the tint shop. and its 8mm thick as they claim.

i was actually thinking what if I ask the body shop to put like 10 coats of clear..is that crazy or would it add more protection to the car or is that just for shine?

you should use the clear bra to protect from rock chips.. but it wont work if you are trying to protect it from curb hits or what not

you are supposed to treat your clear bra'd bumper the same as if the clear bra wasn't there, so yes you can and are supposed to continue using wax.
