Re: Vertical Lifting Doors?
You need to research the different companies that manufacture these kits...Some kits claim that they are universal, some need the front fender to be rolled in order to work...Some don't have a locking position that will keep the door from suddenly slamming shut if you have the door open for long periods of time...Other kits also maintain the stock opening ability to a certain angle while others don't...Just be wary and make an educated decision...I personally trust www.lambodoor.com (not www.lambodoors.com) after studying this mod

^^^^^^ lol
I love this mod and have seen it on a M3 always driving around this area (boston). I know that door isn't appropriate for all situations so stock opening is a plus.

I believe that the Decah doors can open sideways like stock and swing vertically. They have a direct bolt-on for the 350Z but nothing yet on the G35.

Re: Vertical Lifting Doors?
I think this weight issue is only something to be considered by owners that are really modding the G35 to attain a higher level of performance...If you are just getting some rims and appearance components it shouldn't matter...If you're trying to shave your 1/4 mile time than it might be a factor...How many owners on this forum are really taking these rides to the track or doing serious engine work?

Re: Vertical Lifting Doors?
exactly SnM..... you bought a luxury/sport sedan with 255 hp, not a honda CRX with no interior or any seats to shave off .01 on your qrtr mile time with a 900 HP built engine.
I don't understand why weight removal is the new trend in car forums. Especially this one, i've never seen so many people who obsses over wether or not turning your lights on adds weight and other asinine [censored].

Re: Vertical Lifting Doors?
I don't do too serious internal engine mods, but I do take my G35 sedan 6mt to the track frequently for test and tune nights and bracket racing.

Re: Vertical Lifting Doors?
a new trend? some people care about performance here. ever heard the saying "a show car is a slow car"? i have nothing against show cars its just the G35 is already a porky car, it weighs about the same as a Supra, plus its has great engine potential.
