2007 taillight crome piece?

Ok, I hope this is in the right area. I also did a search and found nothing specific. But what the heck is that crhome piece on the 07 tailight near the reverse sliver white light?

It has be bothering me not knowing what it was!

is there one on each side? Why would they put a trunk release all of a sudden, i thought it looked cleaner without it and isnt the button on the key fob what people use anyway?

It's so you don't have to use your FOB.

Just like the black button on the doors.

that's what that is? interesting, i wish my 05 had that so i wouldn't have to use my fob

..why would there be a trunk release button on both sides?

i prefer using the trunk release on my tails as opposed to the one on my keyfob. it's more convenient to push that button than to reach in my pocket for the fob - especially when i have my hands full with groceries or something.

on the 06 sedan it is under the tail light but it is the same color as the car

The 07 sedan has it integrated in the chrome spoiler. At least that's what I think that button is for.
