A 'buzzing' sound from the right door or window..

but it only occurs when the window is all the way up. I have tried to put pressure on the window when I hear it but that doesn't change it. I have had the door panel off 4 times thinking it was the outer trim strip rubbing against the glass, this didn't change it either. I push and pull on the trim inside the car and it doesn't change it either!

The sound isn't very loud but I hear it and that's too loud for me!!! In all fairness it's a plastic on plastic sort of buzz that you'd find in an instrument panel ( the kind that drive you bonkers ) and it sounds like it's right beside me which makes it all the more annoying. I think I remember driving the car with the door panel off but I don't remember the result!!

I am wondering if there are rubber stops on the window mechanism of some sort that would be contacting the underside of the top of the door when the window is all the way up? I'm looking in the zipped manual that I got online and can't seem to see anything.

++++++++++++++++++++++++ OR+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Is there a way to limit how high the window goes up? If I could get it down just a tiny bit, but so it will still index and seal I bet the problem would go away!

Any ideas? btw it's an '06 coupe

Thanks,

GEVO

It could be you only hear the noise when the window is up because of less wind noise.
Squeeze your rearview mirror and see if that is it. The buzzing should stop immediately. There is a TSB out for it.

Thanks for the info But it's hard to see a connection ( no pun intended ) between lowering the window 1/8" and the inside mirror. Your post said 'REARVIEW' mirror which I take to be the inside one, not the side view mirror.

The sound isn't coming from my inside mirror it's in the door somewhere and lowering the window a tiny bit makes it stop. I can be going 5mph with no wind noise and hear the buzzing sound, all I do is touch the window button to lower it a tad so it's not so damned tight against the weatherstripping at the A pillar and above the door and it stops.

Thanks for your reply and interest!

^okay. Sorry I didn't realize it stopped when lowering only 1/8". Have you tried a good lube on the weather stripping? I had an annoying rattle/buzz from my sunroof that I thought was coming from the passenger door. It turned out to be the sunroof weatherstripping. After lubing it all was good.

I have the same buzz. Not the rear view mirror, not the rear window regulator bolts either (already had that addressed). It is something either inside the b pillar (drivers left ear), in the seat belt tensioner, or its a wire laying against plastic in the pillar. Windows can be up or down... It drives me NUTS.

EDIT in fact, I can have the bose stereo on, say, 15 or 16 volume, and the buzz goes with the beat of the bass... buzz buzz buzz buzz buzz

I know I've searched and read many creak and buzz threads, but never found the culprit for this... Anyone?

Thumbs down More on this problem

I took the G in for a 15k service and here is what the tech tried that didn't work.

Took out the window and lubricated the window regulator with some sort of blue grease. He also put it on the door handle where the cables connect to the handles. Tightened the regulator bolts as per the TSB or whatever bolts it mentioned.

Since we couldn't make the damn thing buzz he didn't know what he was looking for and I can't blame him for that. I was in the business for 18 years and you can't fix something that is working correctly when it gets to you.

NOW OF COURSE its home and it does it all the time! I have the door panel aka door finisher off and am driving the car this way. The noise is coming right from the center of the door; that's where it's the loudest. Looking down inside the door past the glass I can't see anything in that area but that white fuzzy thing that presses against the glass to keep it from rattling

The only way to stop the noise is to pull on the top edge of the door where there are 3 layers of metal spot welded together. If I pull that lip towards the inside of the car the noise stops, of course I can't get it to stay in that position it moves back and I have the buzzing again.

Like someone said "it sounds like a wire or a connector just barely touching metal".

I guess I have to drive the 65 miles back to the dealer to let them have another whack at it. I HATE this sort of noise and if it did it when I have my stereo on I'd go bonkers!!!

Good luck to all and stay tuned as I or someone tracks this thing down, it's clearly unacceptable for a car that costs this much to have all the rattles and noises it does.

Yes it still goes away when I lower the window a tiny bit. Only heard when window is up all the way and under tension.
