Question about DIY bodywork

This week I got into a small fenderbender. I know, it sucks. Anyway, that means its time for mods! I took the G to a bodyshop but they said they will only do factory parts, no upgrades. I need a new headlight, bumper, hood, grille and energy absorber.

I'm gonna go with 06 headlights, Nismo bumper, Seibon Carbon Fiber hood, and OEM grille and energy absorder.

So, what do you guys think? Can I do all this bodywork myself, or do you think it's better to go to a bodyshop?

You can do anything yourself. I just installed my short throw shifter. It took me like couple hours, but it was worth it. It takes time and patience.

take the insurance check, buy the parts you want with it, have them paint it all and pay them to do it as well as install.

You should still come out with extra cash in hand b/c OEM parts are expensive.

I would buy the parts, have them paint and then install yourself.

Have you shopped around? Check out other shops and look at prices. There's a good chance that you can still find a shop or two out there that will be willing to install aftermarket parts for you.

My shop doesn't have a problem installing aftermarket parts for me. I got my (first) insurance check, took it to the bank, told them how much $$$ I needed to order parts with, ordered the parts, dropped them off with my car at the shop, and should be picking her up Friday!

new mods:
'06 lights
Nismo Urethane rep front
Impul FG rep sides
Nismo FG rep diffuser
new wheels (not ordered yet, though)
