gap foam = 3m product about quarter inch round foam tube that comes in a roll. it is sticky and is applied either to the door edge or all the way around the door sill. once applied and the door is closed, it covers the gap and prevents a paint edge on the door sill and backside of the door.
Even then, wouldn't there still be a edge that isn't blended? I don't see how to avoid this without repaint the entire inside of the qp?

the foam does a great job of keeping the paint to the outside edges of the doorsill. we would lightly run a buffer on the inside of the sill and that would completely eliminate any edge that was left. this works better than masking tape which always left a paint line.

so with all this work, approximately how many days would it take to fix? i'd assume it would take quite a while for the cost to be ~$1k...

mmmm...sorry to say, but the actual bodywork would only take about an hour and a half. prep for paint, about 45 minutes. paint and clear, another hour. curing time about 5 hours.

in other words, at least 4 days for a busy shop.

went to the shop today.

quoted me 1100 - said it shouldn't go up much, if any at all. 3-4 days is what they need. looks like speed was RIGHT on the spot!

said to call back around noon to talk to his body guy/painter to see if they can work something out - possibly bring the price down to 1k or even 950 - since i've been there for: rear bumper tear; nismo bumper paint; impul sideskirts paint/install; two grilles painted; black roof (i think that's all of it...maybe more).

anyway, ~1k is going to hurt me bad...

btw - the mentioned repainting the entire qp; lifting the glass, rear bumper, tailllight. a few of the things he said sounded familiar with what you guys said early this morning...the car has been there before...so i trust them with their work.

where is the shop? is it the same one your car was done at? san gabriel?

right now, i'm too depressed to drive this thing. see if you can ask for a ballpark price range.

the chances are that i will go with my own body shop, because i've been there many times and they might lower the price for me. but if your shop can do any cheaper, then i'll definitely consider them. they seem to do really good work - assuming it's the same shop that i saw your car at.

Ouch Calvin! Sad to hear/see that...

What kind of job are you looking for? I'm sure you could get a temporary construction job for the summer to make some extra $$...

Damn homie....sorry to see I know the fustration of getting hit but the quarter is the worse part of the car to be tagged at. Last Summer some @sshole backed into my friends Z. He had to change the whole door skin and pop the quarter out. Redlude is right as far as pricing though.
