Question Impul Sides!

Hi guys,

This post is for all the folks who have fiberglass Impul Sides! So I got my car back from the body shop over the weekend. Havent had the chance to post about this. I am finally getting around to do this today.

Anyway, if you look at the pictures below, you can notice 3 rivets on each side skirt. The shop owner said that we had to put these rivets on to hold the skirt firmly in place. My question is:

1) All of you with the same product, do you happen to have similar experiences? I can say that all the pictures I have seen, I dont think I have seen this...? I could be wrong!

2) I dont think it looks really clean from upclose. It is not noticeable from farther away. Those rivets make the skirt look wavy (specially the right one! What is the best way to hide this? I'd rather not get it corrected if it means that my side skirts are going to come loose on the freeway! lol

I expressed my concern to the owner when I picked it up, and he said if you'd like we can take them out. The owner gave me 100% Customer Satisfaction/Lifetime warranty on their work. More than likely I will be taking the car back as there are small/minor imperfections I'd like to get corrected as soon as I get the time!

And yes, I know I needa drop!

from all the pics i've seen, rivets have not been needed in those spots, I would definetly take them out. They should be able to stay up from the screws in the door if its fiberglass

that looks terrible.

3m double sided tape should've been used there.

Yeah, there should be stock mounting points where you can pop in a connector. I don't think the rivets are necessary - takes away from the sleek look of the sides.

Man, that is horrible. I hope they didn't do that to your Nismo bumper too. Bring it back and bring some pictures of other cars with Impul sides so they can't tell you that it's not possible.

so what are my alternatives

1) 3m double sided tape
2) what else??

i have seen enough pictures of impul sides, but i want to be able to explain to the owner what to use instead of these rivets. he said what if it doesnt hold, and that is what i am afraid of!

You can also use automotive body sealant/adhesive which comes in a caulking gun, its more permanent, but will probably hold better than the double sided tape

the car looks amazing from afar. those rivets really make it look like a hack job.
