They must be cut out. Use a Dremel tool. If you go with an aftermarket grille, you can have all the mesh match like this:

I couldn't find a DIY to answer these questions so hopefully someone here can...

When you Dremel out the OEM mesh, do you have to leave the ring, the part that outlines the opening, in the bumper?

Has anyone removed that ring? If so, how'd it look?? Better to leave the ring in??

Thanks!

If you look closely at the grille opening, you'll see where you'd have to cut if you kept the ring as opposed to removing it. If you remove it, you'll expose a cut surface that would be visible. If you keep the ring, the cut surface faces the rear of the vehicle and cannot be seen.

So basically, I cut the grill out, then sand down the remaining parts of it so that it becomes even with the ring part?

It's a little difficult to explain. Just remember that the circular blade of your Dremel will remain vertical while cutting. You should be able to figure it out by looking at the grilles.

I know im bumping an old thread, but i didnt want to start another one since the ppl who replyed has the info i need.

What is best to secure the wires on an OEM bumper for the new mesh?
Hot glue, Silicone, JB weld, or something else?
Since the OEM bumper is not fiberglass I'm not sure which is best.

Very clean how it matches the top grille.

Hot glue should work just fine!
