DIY for Splash Guard?

Asking for another DIY guys, haha. I am going to be ordering a set of splash guards from Grubbs. I called my local dealership in San Diego and they quoted my $92 for the install. I laughed and hung up.

Anyone know where I could find a DIY or can someone explain the whole process to me? Does it require any kind of drilling?

Thanks

The instructions included are very good and self-explanatory. You do need to drill I believe 4 holes total, into the plastic of course. You will also need to jack up your rear end and remove the rear tires unless you have a 90-degree drill. If you take your time you can do this in about an hour.

Re: DIY for Splash Guard?

I saw someone post on FreshAlloy that they didnt drill at all and just taped the Splash Guards on using extra 3M take, so that later he could take them off.

I was wondering if I could do this as well. Will they fall of over time?

Could I use the standard jack that comes with the car to jack up the front and rear? I do have a drill at home and an extension, but I dont know what you mean by 90 degree extension?

Btw, the guards are $75 per set. Is this a good price?

Re: DIY for Splash Guard?

i wouldn't try to just tape them. They will prob fall off.....

yes you can just use the oem jack...and i was able to get mine on in the rear with the tires still on. I just used a very long bit extension and angled the drill. I jacked the front up slightly to drill the bottom holes. But if you have a right angle drill (and use a short drill bit) it is possible to do all of them without jacking or removing the wheels. Of course, some people may still find it easier to remove the rear wheels, if you aren't very handy with a drill.

Ok, I dont think I have a right angle drill. By this, do you guys mean those long scredriver type hand held drill's that bend in the middle? Or do you guys mean the extention actually bends for the drill?

You can still remove the splash guards even if you drill and you're not going to leave huge holes. There will be one small hole in the rear, the rest are under the car.
