I being to cheap to pay $800 to purchase and have my dealership install a factory trunk spoiler at the time I bought my coupe I opted to buy one from an aftermarket company instead. I purchased one from Spoiler Depot off of ebay for a total of $175 painted and just got it delivered to my home.. It looks great and I am eager to install it however the directions for installing it are basically nonexistant. No templates or measurements just basically eyeball the thing and mark the spots for the holes using some screws with sharp points on the end screwed into the spoiler and pressinging down on the trunk lid to mark the spots for drilling. I am not eager to install it this way. Has anyone installed one of these on their coupe and if so do you have a better way to install this than the above mentioned? Thanks for any help/advice you guys have to offer.

If you're unsure, you should find a reputable shop in your area and just pay to have it done. Putting the spoiler on will require you to drill holes, so once the drilling begins, there's no going back. If you decide to do it on your own, it'll be very helpful to have someone else help you. Yeah that is a definite option and one I am considering but I wonder how they will know the proper placement of the spoiler without instructions. I helped my son put a spoiler on his Mitusbishi Lancer but it came with templates and definite spots where to drill the holes and it turned out fine. But with nothing to go by I will have to have it installed professionaly.

Even the pros need a template for a guide, so you can contact Infinit or anyone else selling that type spoiler to obtain the template. One other idea is to do it by sight, which means you would have to get someone to hold it in place so you can get a proximate placement location point.
But if not comfortable with this either get the template or follow
the advice of the other posts and take it to a pro. To much at stake.

 

Hi, I got mine from Spoiler Depot as well and installed it with the help of a friend. The kit comes with four mounting screws. Once you determine the place for the spoilier, insert the mounting screws and press down on the top of the trunk to make the place for the drilling holes. It is very easy. HOWEVER, what is not easy is that two of the holes are encased in metal on the inside of the trunk. You have to manuever very carefully to get inside to put the screws in. This required patience. Also, put tape over the holes when you drill. It leaves a nice clean hole. I installed mine and it looks great!
