Repainting Bumper

I just removed my front license plate yesterday and notice 2 ugly drilled holed on my sports front bumper. I'm planning to get those holes filled and front bumper completely repainted. I got a quote from a local small shop for $400 and planning to take it there in a week to get it done. I've had bad experiences in the past when the bodykit was painted on my old Accord by another small shop, paint easily chip and peel.

Is there anything I need to know or need to ask to make sure I get my bumper painted the right way?

Just use a good body shop. I had both front and back done and it looks good. No problem what so ever. A quality shop will do guaranteed work.
Look how nice the front bumper looks without stone chips!

You paint job looks great! This shop I'm going to has lifetime warranty on their works. Yesterday, they messed up on a installation of a body part that I brought in, they offered order another replacement and re-do the installation.

Thanks Jlin, as hard as it seems, my car always looks like that due to working from home and never having to drive the coupe in the rain. I do tend to baby it.

It is usually more to fix / re-paint a bumper then purchasing a new one!

To give you an idea... new 06 Sport Bumper is $245 out the door picked up... Painting on a new bumper is sometimes half the price!

Paint chips on the front are inevitable. If you do any highway driving at speed, your bound to have chips on your bumper and lower portion of your hood.
Have it repainted, and then have a clearbra installed, this will eliminate most or all of your chipping problems.

I had my front bumper repainted two years ago, and since then I've picked up at least a dozen small chips....they don't show as bad since they used a gray/white primer......

Actually $400 is what they originally wants to charge me. We came to a deal to trade service for service, which to me is not bad.

But my concerns is does $400 sounds okay for repainting a bumper, or sound too good to be a quality job?

The shop is actually going to be the one installing the adhesive stone guard I just ordered from you. They already messed up the first try on that, but I dont blame them because it's not a standard body shop thing.

Those little stone guards are a hassle to install!

Its not uncommon for the shop to mess up installing those things...

They come unpainted, you have to have shop paint it. Else I'd get one and install it myself.

OEM Bumpers come unpainted black urethane...

The only bumpers that are factory painted are the sport bumpers for the 03-04 Sedan. But, they are way more expensive then getting a non-painted bumper painted on your own...

Oh no. Looking from a angle, I just found some slight contour dents created by the screws on the front bumper, the dent curves in-ward. I know body shops can fill-up holes, but what about dented urethanes?

I'm not really liking on that bondo stuff on dent then paint, it's like hiding. Rather prefer fixing the dent then paint. But dented urethanes?

I'm to a point that I might just go for a new bumper to make things simple.
