Painting experts - tips please

Well I got my CF Z tube and full engine cover in the mail today. I plan on adding them to match my cf overlays for both battery covers.

Since I have gold rims, I thought it would be interesting to have the richie bar, engine cover emblem, radiator cap and HKS brushed aluminum oil cap all painted in gold.

NOw I have no experience doing such other than just sanding down the items and going to town with them with gold spray paint.

Is this the right way or is there something better? I also dont know what grit sand paper to use.

Thanks for any tips.

if you want a good match I would recommend no using spray paint, not much selection in gold from my experience. If you do it sand with 180 grit then prime then 400 wetsand and paint

You can have a paint shop make any color you want in spray. I use the Sherwin Williams automotive paint center by my work. I'm not sure what you would have over there.
