Faded HomeLink buttons on the Rear View Mirror...
I have an '05 G35 Coupe, and in the last month, I noticed that the HomeLink buttons are starting to fade-out on the Rear View Mirror. Anybody else have that issue?
All the electronics continue to work fine so its not worth replacing the mirror just because of the look of the buttons. But is it possible to just replace the buttons?

It's not a big deal, but thats the only part of the interior thats showing any age for me.
Where the black coating of the button fades/chips off - it reveals a white plastic. I might attempt to color it with a permanent black marker. I'm thinking that would draw attention away from it....
Funny how this is the first thread on the homelink mirror that had a different subject than rattles from the mirror! My mirror doesn't get a chance to have faded buttons because the dealership keeps replacing them with new ones due to all the rattles.

Clear Tape...rubber adhesive circles
I can't remember which car it was, but one of my friends had clear tape over their homelink buttons (it came from the factory that way). Now that I think about it - it's probably to prevent the faded button problem...
So my suggestion to anybody that gets a new mirror - put some clear tape on top of the buttons to reduce wear on them.
In my case, the house-icon is almost gone, but the small dots below the image of the house are still there - now I'm thinking I'll find some black rubber adhesive circles to put over the faded house-icon. It should look better than the white plastic that I am staring at now.
