I need help with aftermarket Spoiler
I need help with aftermarket Spoiler
I did a post almost 4 days ago and I didnt get one single response. What I asked for would have taken anyone with a coupe at the most 10 minutes to do, probably five minutes. With all the welcomes to the club posts and such I cant believe one person couldnt take the time to help out. I am going to ask one more time and I hope someone will help . I need a picture of the trunk lid without the panel on of someone who has the factory spoiler installed so I can see where the spoiler bolts. I have purchased an aftermarket one and the two outside holes line up of the lip where the top and bottom are welded together. This does not seem to me to be a good place to try drilling as I would have to drill through the welds. Thanks to anyone who will help me. Private Message me and I will give you my email address.

Re: Sorely Disappointed
I PM'd you and described the process. I guess it didn't help. Two of the bolts will drill through cleanly. But two of them will drill inside of the weld. Then you have to be very careful how to get the screw into the welded area and into the hole you drilled. But as far as someone showing you where to put the spoiler, you have to just mark them yourself. That is personal preference, but the spoiler sits about an inch off the edge of the trunk. I described that in my PM to you as well. Oh well...
Re: Sorely Disappointed
yeah, u gotta mark them urself. it doesn't say in the instructions where to measure? dont get mad, i dont think people drive around sportin' drill holes in their trunk without the spoiler on. go to a dealer that has spoilers on the coupes and see how far the edge of the spoiler is off from the edge of the trunk. OR you can call infiniti maybe at the service dept. and ask them what the drill hole measurements are, i dunno if this works, but it's worth a shot
Re: Sorely Disappointed
Since it's an aftermarket spoiler, the mounting points may not be ideal for all trunklid designs. It's the nature of the beast unfortunately. Normally OEM spoilers optimize the spacing to the trunklid design. They should at least include some sort of template to help you out though. Also measure twice (or lots more) before drilling anything!

Re: Sorely Disappointed
Jim - You did pm me and I responded back to you and you never answered me again. I do appreciate what help you did give but I wanted to know if your spoiler had mounting holes that had to be drilled through the flat lip right on the edge of the trunk lid. Whether yours did was unclear to me.
Matters - Of course no one would be driving around without the spoiler on sporting the drill holes, but they can be see from the underside of the trunk and that is what I wanted the picture of.
Gord - I wish it did include a template but it doesn't, that would definitely help. This spoiler is specificly for the G35 Coupe so I would hope they have the mounting points on the spoiler in the same spot as a factory oem spoiler.
As to everyone else, never have I said that I was mad. I simply said I was disappointed on a lack of response to a plea for help, but there are several pages on which analog clock looks better, the one with thin hands or the one with thick. As a G35 Coupe owner I appreciate the comaraderie we all share and the willingness to help each other when a problem arises. Again I did not mean to give anyone the impression I am or was mad, I am just very frustrated. Attached is a picture of the trunk lid where one of the holes has to be drilled. Does the factory installed spoiler have a mounting hole at approximately this spot ?
