black plastic...splash guard... 1st post

This is my first post so if this has been answered, please forgive me. I just got my 03 dp sedan. i love it. but i hate the black weather stripping, or whatever its called on the bottom of the car. i went to a local shop to get it painted to match the rest of the car and the guy recommended not painting it because he said because of the texture it would not look right.(kind of like painting the chevy avalache's cover... car guys know what i mean) i went home and felt it and it wasn't the same.(i used to sell chevy's) has anyone painted this. how has it came out?

i just went to another shop(trusted) and he did not want to paint the splash guard. he says they don't hold paint well. has anyone who has painted them had problems with chipping or holding paint? he pointed specifically to the place where the side meets the back. i don't like the black, but i would hate chipping paint
