Question What bulbs are under the doors?

I did a search, couldn't find it.

They look like old glass tube fuses and they get hot. touched one when I was disconnecting the connector while taking the door panel off. ouch.

I'd like a little color down there. Anybody know what bulb that is and are there colored versions?

It's what is referred to as a 31mm "festoon" bulb. I have the high power whites from vLEDs.com and they're awesome. Very white with a slight hint of blue. Paired with the same bulbs (also festoons) in the map lights it looks great!

so are the led replacements similar in brightness to the stock bulbs?

I tried "superbright" led replacement bulbs for the side marker lights and found them to be not very bright at all. I went back to incandesent there.

I'm thinking amber or red for under the doors to match the instrument lighting but they still have to be bright enough to light the ground when you open the door like they are meant to.

Others recommended the high power white vLEDs as the brightest they had found, and (except for the reverse lights, oops!) I think they're very bright and look great. Obviously nothing you put in the interior will be as bright as the plain stock bulbs, but I think the vLED high powers are pretty close. For 15 bucks a pair it's worth a try.

My interior LED's are brighter than the oem bulbs and a nice clean white. If I remember right they were from VLEDs.
