I got IP Coupe.
I want to paint my engine cover.
Should I paint outside IP and live middle the way it is

or
Should I paint inside IP

And Q to those who did it.
Do I have to use Hight heat paint and primer or no?
and what is the easiest way to mask out the letters and INFINITI sight if I end up painting the middle?

I like the look of the second one. Inside painted in IP, looks pretty sweet.

I like the inside also but it's more taping and masking. Originally Posted by CandlestickPark

Joker, just tape over the Infiniti signs & use a razor blade to cut the tape along the edges off.

I like No.2. You should probably use heat resistant paint just to be safe.

Option No. 2 inside definitely! More work yes, but others will notice that extra work!

Joker.....#2 all the way.....
I'm sure you can tape off the numbers.....go to an auto paint supply store and buy a couple different sizes of tape.
They sell some 1/8" blue pinstriping tape, that will let you follow the outline perfectly.
I would scuff the cover with scotch pad or fine steel wool, then prime and paint.
I'm not sure if you really need engine paint since the air cleaner doesn't really generate any heat by itself....
Good luck
