Window Motor...the beginning of the end?

So I roll down my passenger window on my '03 Coupe today and it has a very jerky motion on the way down. It also has a bit of a delay in the switch before the window actually moves. I immediately rolled it back up and left it alone.

Is this a sign of the dreaded bad window motor?

TIA!

Probably, how long has the problem been going on for? You should take it to the dealer, if you are still under warranty.

It's out of factory warranty but I do have an extended warranty. It's done it just the one time. I'm afraid to roll it down again for fear it might not go back up.

I just had a similiar problem with my driver side window on my '04. It would only work when it wanted to. I read through some threads and found that if you take the trim off the door and take the motor housing off(which is really pretty easy) you can clean out the carbon that is built up in there and that can help fix the problem instead of having to buy a new motor or anything. It worked for mine. Also, if you hit the door where the motor is and raise the window at the same time, it should help it make contact. The carbon build up can cause the copper wires not to connect causeing the window to not work. Just do a search on power window problems. There is a very detailed DIY w/Pics...
