Custom Headlights Finished!

Had an all day project today. Wanted to post my proud results. Dual LED strips in clearance, got rid of amber lens, and painted housing gloss black with dark grey primer 1st coat and a 3 coat clear gloss.

Clearcorners that match to follow.

Also got a video up on youtube.]

UPDATE: I just finished the clearcorners to match, orange blinker LEDs in clearcorner housing. Looks sweet at night.

you plan on making a write up? is its a lot of labor? looks like it would cost a pretty penny

I would say it cost me about 100 all together with shipping. Most of it is all labor. I do admit it helps if you have a dremel. Im still waiting on a few more peices so im going to have to take it all apart again next week, (halos, white blinker lens, white clearance strip) I also did the clearance corners last night, so now i have orange led blinkers in my clearance corners as well to match. If anyone would like to atempt this mod, i would say go for it, but it will take you all day to do. If you live in the tristate area (nj,NYC,conn) send me a PM. Maybe ill come help you.

nice, any pics of the work? Do the clearance strips alternate colors when blinking or are they both on simultaneously? Hard to tell from the vid exactly what is going on

sorry, Pretty much what i did is took the lights apart, painted the housing with a dark grey primer after i sanded it with 400 grit sandpaper, then applied a black gloss coat and then after that dried i did a crystal clear gloss goat for added shine. I dremeled the amber light out and left it open and took out the plastic piece that sits in the clearance strip , it helps spread the light from the stock clearance bulb. and installed 2 led strips, one cool white which i wired to the clearance strip bulb wiring (red and black wires) and then i wired the orange led strip to the blinker wires, (green and black) Then i screwed everything back together and threw it back in the oven to get the silicone around the housing hot so that it would glue back together. This all took me about 8 to 10 hours, including my half hour breaks here and there, to go to the local hardware store for random stuff. (dremel, 3 spray cans, sandpaper etc)
