Attn Kuruma Z bumper owners:

Do you all still use the OEM plastic underbody with your bumper? I was told in another thread that it can be done by drilling holes or using clips. I was wondering if anybody had pics of this so I could get a better idea of what I would deal with when i get my bumper. I'd like to keep everything like oem as much as possible. Thanks for the help!

 

When I put mine on I bolted it up and bolted the undertray on (all bolts except the ones that bolt to the bumper itself). Then just mark where the holes of the undertray line up on the bumper. My karuma z bumper was a little longer on the inside, so I had to trim it down (used a dremel) to be able to use the clips off the stock bumper. Once trimmed, I drilled the holes, transferred the clips off the stock bumper, and everything bolted right up. Sorry, I don't have any pics.

 

Zack did you have the ARC underbody panel on?? i need to do this to my bumper because right now I dont have it fastened to my ARC panel or any of that part in the center...i am assuming I should probably do this correct?

 

That was with my oem plastic undertray, when I originally installed it. I have an aluminum undertray that I made (similar to the ARC one), that fits just like the oem one, so that's on there now. I would definitely bolt up at least a couple of the spots to the bumper. The ARC panel is pretty rigid, but it would sure suck to ruin it from dragging or catching on something.

 

okay cool. Well i have the ARC underbody panel on the inside of the Bumper. meaning the bumper sits over the ARC panel so you cant see it from underneath.

 

I used the underbody plastic.

 

Yeah, that's what I was figuring. The ARC one shouldn't move, but a couple of bolts through it will make it a lot sturdier. People lay the oem plastic tray up there, and I've seen em fold under the car from down force created by the air running through the bumper vents - they get destroyed.

 

I am going to fix mine this weekend then so I dont have any issues...right now I hear rattling under my car from the ARC underbody tray.

 

yeah I removed mine as soon as I got the Kuruma Z front bumper and had the ARC installed. In that case should I bolt it on the outside of the bumper with the Bumper sitting on top of the panel? or should I bolt it up on the inside with the ARC Panel on top of the bumper? if that doesnt make sense this just think opposite of the first! LOL!

 

It should go under the bumper if you want it like oem - but I imagine it will work either way.

 

okay....I am thinking of which thing would be better of scraping?? the bottom of the bumper or tearing up my ARC Panel.....hard decision here...

 

Kuruma? I thought you were leaning towards the Top Secret front. But, I love Kuruma.

 

Thanks Zack for the info. But I think i have an idea of it may work. I'll just have to see once I have the bumper in front of me. And I think since G35man04 is planning to do this maybe he'll take pics. Please.

FishRFun- Yeah man, I figure this may be my last gift to my car and myself for now. It's reasonable compared to getting a Vortech. (which I would've preferred) But gotta save for the wedding and honeymoon so that'll be pushed back for now...

 

looking into making tray before bumper install

 

Here you go man!! your wish is my command!! finally attached it all today. I just used the OEM screws and tapped into the bumper and attached it. It was actually pretty simple.
