So if I upgrade to the 06 projectors.. lets say I find these on ebay saying they dont come with the ballasts. What does this mean..it doesnt come with the bulbs for the projectors? I am currently under the impression you can plug and play with the exception of a bulb switch on the projectors to D2S.

So if it says no ballasts that just means I have to buy the new bulbs?

If so.. what D2S strength lights should I get... I want to maintain that blueish look and Ive been reading on here about light changing color based on the watts or whatever light is meaured in. Im a rookie.

Yes you just swap your ballast over and buy new bulbs for the 06 setup. I have bulbs for the 06 if your interested. Let me know.

 

Most 06 headlights on ebay dont include bulbs nor ballasts. You will need to buy the bulbs for the headlight assemblies and then transfer the ballast from your 03-05 headlights to the 06 headlights. The ballast is pretty much the power supply and its attached to the headlight assembly in the back by 4 screws and a clip I believe.

I think he's trying to ask what the ballast are. It's basically the power supply for the headlights. Your car already has them so it's okay if you buy headlights without them.

Buying headlights off eBay is not really a good idea as many of those will be the recalled headlights taken off other G's. They were recalled because of an aiming issue, you will be blinding oncoming drivers.

The ballasts supply the correct power to the HID bulbs and you can just switch over the ballasts from your '05 headlamps. I did the same thing with my '04 lights. As far as the color of the lights, what you want to look at is the color temperature rating, not the wattage. Color temperature is shown in Kelvin which is the "K" you see after the number. I believe the stock bulbs are around 4300K. The higher the number the more bluish they become, but the light output will decrease the higher you go as well. So a 6000K bulb will be more bluish than stock, but will not have as much output either. A lot of people have said that the Phillips 5000K bulbs are a good compromise. Hope that helps.

 

Beware of used lights, as most on ebay are not legit. When I mean legit, I mean that they are saved from the trash from when they were swapped out for the recall. If that is the case, then they will not conform to DOT standards.

we sell these brand new on ebay at a great price, and ours will include the bulbs already.

the reason why the ballasts are not included is because for the recall, there was nothing wrong with the ballasts, so there is no need to replace them. just use your old ones, they will plug and play right up with these.
