Ok Im getting my grill painted this weekend. My car is liquid platnium, with the opaque black head/ taillight overlays with black R1 Grips, Im getting it painted black to accent the rest of the black, but Im not sure weather to paint the emblem black, leave it plain, or take it off all together. What would look the best in ur opinions?

I like how it looks now Aldo with the Mt Fuji, but that's just my opinion.

If it's anything like the sedans it is quite easy. There are clips on the grill and 2 on the bumper that are in line with those on the grill. Take all those out. From the inside there are tabs you have to push. Just push them one by one and make your way across from one side to the next. I'll take pics when I go outside and post them.

Here's how to do it.

There are 6 push pins in total to remove. Here are 3 on the passenger side. Remove the ones on the driver side as well.

There are several tabs on the bottom of the grill that hold the grill into place on the bumper. All you have to do is pinch the top and bottom of them and push it towards you. Here is an inside view of what they look like. Keep going back and forth from one side to the next until they have been removed from their slots.

If the grill does not come off after pushing out the tabs, there are two others. In the picture below you will see where I'm pointing. On the inside there is a grey tab. These are more difficult to pinch and it helps a little to tilt the grill and pull towards you while you pinch them. The one I'm pointing to is on the driver side, the other one, of course, is on the passenger side.

I didn't take a picture but to remove the emblem you will see tabs on the inside of the grill. I think you push the tabs from the inner portion of the tab outwards. If not, it's the other way around, but it's very simple for this one.

If doing flat black there is a paint I would really recommend. It's what I used to paint my OEM 17's and what I will paint for my 19" Rays. It's but a company call Montana and it is the Gold series. The color is Shock Black.

You can find them at an art store. It's $10 per can, but very worth it. Other paints work just fine, but I never had any issues with dripping or orange peel with the Montana paint. I believe it has some sort of primer that is already mixed in the paint as well, but I'd still lay a layer of primer just in case.

Rememer to sand the grill down a little for the paint to adhere better. You can wet sand using 800, then 1500, and even 2000 grit after. When done sanding make sure you use paint thinner to remove any dirt and grime. Let dry for a little bit and then paint away! Last thing you want to do is have an imperfect paint job and have to remove the paint, or sand it down, and redo the process again. Best to get it right the first time!

I think semi flat with the chrome mt fuji looks the best, that's why I did mine that way. Got pics of it in "my garage".
It's not too glossy but it still has a slight gleam to it.
But if I had an OB I might go gloss black to match the paint.
It's one of the easiest mods I've done. Taking it to a shop is a waist of money.
I did the whole mod on my balcony, so u don't really need a lot of room.
Just make sure you don't get overspray on anything.
