IP (Ivory Pearl) "rust"

I have a 06' IP Coupe, I heard that the yellow dots on my paint is the paint oxidizing... is this something I can bring up to the dealership? What can I do to fix this? I'm guessing it requires a sanddown and repaint since its under the clearcoat...

Thanks!

IP Coupe rusting away....:(

Yellow dots....? I suppose you've tried to wash them off or have you tried doing clay to remove the dots? I get yellow dots too but it's actually bee pollen and washes off. I've never heard of rust coming thru under the clear coat....never! If it was rust it would be making a bubble not just a dot!

Its hard to explain, it really is yellow dots INSIDE the clear coat... i clay-ed over them to no avail already... its definitely not pollen lol... its hard to see them unless the car is clean and the right amount of light is available (not too bright/dark)

-_-;

Yea I have the same thing and believe it or not, clay bar reveals even more of those little dots. It looks like little dots of rust but you can tell its not coming from the metal. I'd be interested to know what it actually is if someone knows.

This happened already to my brother's car. He has an 08 G37 IP Coupe. I winded up using some "take off" chemicals at work that didn't hurt the paint. I'll try finding out the name of it tomorrow when I go to work. They were like brown-ish tiny spots right? I'm assuming so cause my brother had it all over the sides of his car too..

Yea they're little brownish dots. I clay barred my car and when the wax was removed, you can tell it sits under the wax but above the metal so its either in the paint or the clear. I used a little ardex solvent to get some out but it was all over the car and I didn't have much time.

Was it all over your brother's car too? Are you sure the chemicals got it out or did you wax it and that just covered it up?

I had the same thing on my G. I was told it was the salt and snow from the winter. I washed the G and it still didnt come off...so I use some Meguiars Bug and Tar removal and bingo...it was gone. Its the first time I have ever seen this rust orangy brown color.

One of my boys told me I have to claybar it and make sure to wax it good to get all of it off...so thats a little project I have once the weather get better here in the Chi.

I had it on my silver coupe. Get a good clay bar and your good to go. My previous white maxima had it and I was able to remove it using a claybar.

a little patience and some elbow grease and you'll be fine

We just got a 2009 QX56 [work at a dealer] in and it has yellow dots on the front bumper... could not be buffed out and is definitely in the paint. I'll let you know if we find out what it is.

Yeah it was completely gone. I couldn't find the name of the chemicals I used at work since there just marked for certain things. Post pics up when ever you can

I would love to see pictures, I cant just say what it is with out looking at it. I dont think its rust by what your saying imo. With rust its in the metal and will lift or bubble the paint, if there is still paint on top of it then it would still look the same color, most of the time.
