My Blacked Out Headlights..PICS

About a week ago, I with the help of MALX took apart my headlights and blacked them out.....While I was at it, i decided to dremel the orange turn signal out. All in all, I'm very pleased with the new look. I have a few pictures that Joey and I took right after finishing...(his car is on the left)
Whenever I have time I'll upload some cleaner, better pictures of the lights. Enjoy for now, and let me know what you think.

Car with the bumper off...Pre-Surgery

A Look at the back of the housing assembly

A look at the housing assembly out of the car

Malx's G on the left, mine on the right...(I know..the headlights are hard to see cause of the glare)

Side shot.....again..glare issues (sorry)

Close up of the light...for now its the best picture I have....before you ask..the blueish in the fog light is the MTEC bulbs..i STRONGLY recommend them....

Like i said before..i'll try to get some more pics up before the end of the week...but i'm not making any promises

enjoy!

Re: My Blacked Out Headlights..PICS

Mygunit, awesome! i been wanting to clear out my signal lights too, wish you coulda taken more pictures of the process, we were hoping that someone on here can put together a DIY complete with pictures so that we can do it also. Can you tell me was it difficult to remove the bumper? and how long does this install take? just to clear out the signals, not black out the headlights. I'm scared i might mess up my headlights when putting them in the oven, and scared about sealing em incorrectly... how hard is it to dremel out that orange piece? Please help...

It takes about 4-6 hours to do any process involved removing and opening up headlights. Just remember that taking out the yellow bulb is difficult to dremel out if you don't have a steady hand. Also remmeber that your due in for some rough inconsistant edges when the job is complete inside that round part where the yellow bulb sat.

Thanks - Joey Avino

Re: My Blacked Out Headlights..PICS

thats real nice mitch, good work...now get on over to eb and do it for my g thanks haha. seriously though, make the pics bigger next time, i could barely see anything without my contacts in. still looks really awesome, i'm just too paranoid about screwing up the housing and having to replace the whole thing for $800..oh well, maybe someday i'll get the courage and patience.

i finally got my clear corners (ebay for $47 shipped..not too bad) and look soooo much better than those orange things. now i just gotta get some piaa's and definitely the mtec's cause these stock fogs are just pissing me off already..

the corner and clearance is just a wedge bulb right? like 168 or 194 i think it was? just wanna make sure, and is there any local place that carries them or only online?

thanks, good work bud
I'M NEXT MALX...hehe

I hope that is just dust on your camera lens... if not it looks like you have about 50,000+ rock chips on your car! The lights do look great though.

Re: My Blacked Out Headlights..PICS

Wow guys, great work! I'm glad to see how well it turned out. The blacked out housing looks awesome on OB.

EuroG, if you look at the DIY for the smoked headlights, I wrote up a brief section on removing the front bumper. Removing the bumper mainly involves finding all the screws that hold it in place and they are listed in the DIY, so it should suffice. Good luck.
