Driver's window failure (in a coupe)

I have an 04 Coupe and my driver's door window failed. It works occasionally and when it works it barely brings the window up and down (with a very bad noise).

Has anyone had this issue and if so, any remedies ? How much would it cost to fix it ?

Thanks,

You need a window actuator. Go to Auto Zone! they have a life time warranty VS dealership or used.

Thanks for your very quick response ! I did some searching around (couldn't find window actuator) and ran into a "window lift motor" - part 47-1377 but I'm not sure if this is the right and only part that I need.

Any more clues ?

Thanks,

^^
Auto zone call it "window lift" but that's it.. They will charge you $200.00 but when you get it, you can bring them your broken one. and they will give you back $40.00.

so your really spending $160.00

Thanks. I saw some references to "window regulator" outside of the "window actuator". Is it something that I should be aware of ? Could they say that I need to change both ?

On a different note, would you trust any mechanic shop to do the work ? I understood that it's quite some labor involved (removing the door cover, etc).

I was having the same issue 4-5 months ago so I bought the window motor from Autozone and replaced it. However, within a few months it started doing it again. I'm not sure if there is something else going on or am I just that unlucky that the new motor I put in already went out. I know I can get a new one but it's a bitch to replace! Anyone have some suggestions?

btw...my drivers side door seems to have power issues period. Not only does my window mess up but my driver side power door lock fails intermittently as well.

screw those rebuit window motors from Autozone, Checkers, Rockauto..... they all get them from the same place so it doesn't matter where you buy it from. I've only had problems with rebuilt window motors in the past. They only seem to last a little while. My 4runner went through a rebuilt one in about a year. I replaced my G35 window motor with a rebuilt one and it only lasted a fricken day. Saveyour self some time and aggrevation and just get a new one from the dealer. Sure it may cost a little more but it's a lot less headaches.

+1 ....did you guys try opening the motor cover and cleaning it as shown in this DIY? Anyway, the OP's problem might be a track or an alignment problem instead.
