Hood & Trunk Shocks on carbon fiber
Hood & Trunk Shocks on carbon fiber
I searched for a few hours, and I couldn't find the posts discussing this...
First issue:
1. Carbon Fiber Hood + Fenders... how do you mount the hood shocks? I saw the installation videos few months ago, and they talk about bending the pins on the fenders... however, with FRP fenders, you can't bend them. Has anyone successfully installed hood shocks with a CF hood & fenders? I have the reduced weight hood dampers in CF, but they are still strong as hell and I can't mount the shocks to the pins (broke 2 or 3 couplings trying and nearly cracked my fender).
Second Issue:
2. When installing an OEM Carbon Fiber Trunk, a post mentioned using only 1 of the shocks because of the weight difference. Is there any confirmation on this?... does the trunk close awkwardly being supported on only one side? Is either side better than the other to mount it? Do they have reduced weight shocks to use in replacement?
Thank you in advance for any and all input!!!

There was a more recent thread discussing this, I think in the coupe section? Not really sure... But it seems some people run them, some don't. Some people buy the struts that aren't full strength (designed for cf/fg). Some people just remove the struts altogether, I personally don't run any on my strafe trunk...
