Question about Rear View Camera

I bought the Kenwood CCD-2000 universal rear view camera and have a Clarion VX709 headunit. My question is...what color is the backup lamp wiring to hook the reverse wire into? I spliced the blue/pink wire in between the lamp and where the harness goes into the entrypoint into the trunk area.

It does not work

I might want to go another route anyway because I might not want to run it with the backup lamp but with a switch that I can literally turn on while driving and backing up as well.

Of course I utilized my resources at the local Worst Buy and the guy in install said that I needed to hook the reverse wire to a 12v source. Would this be correct?

Everything is installed but the wiring may need a little adjustment and any help would be greatly appreciated.

on my 06 coupe it was the purple/white wire. easiest way to tell is to unplug the harness from the back of the tail light, put the parking break on, throw the car in reverse, make sure the headlights are off, and use a voltmeter to test the pins on the harness you removed from the back of the tail light. whichever pin comes up as hot is your reverse wire.

with my f90bt i can view my rearview cam without having to install a switch
