Question Calling all MG2 Trunk Owners

Hello guys,

My shop is having issues with fitting the MG2 trunk. Any of you had the same issues when you got your trunks installed at your shops? If so, can you list what the issue was, and how your shop resolved it. I know there are many of you on the forums that own this trunk!

My body shop says this is the 2nd one they have ordered for me, and they have had similar issues with both. Basically the trunk is being a pain in the A**. It wont fit without being "compressed" (pushed down on a lot with force) and still shows some gaps, but they continue to work on it and hopefully it'll be OK!!

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

yes. I believe you have to use only 1 damper to make it fit.

that has already been tried fellas. the shop is having someone from master grade help out. Could be just a stupid fitment due to the initial mold. MG rep is saying that a lot of people got some crappy fitting trunks.

I dont think there is a way to make it fit 100%. You're gonna either have to sell it or live with the gaps. Mine sticks up slightly on the top corner on the drivers side, and has a slight gap between the tail lights and bottom of the trunk to rear bumper. A nice looking trunk but the quality and fitment isnt there.

You are going to have to put some force on a 8lbs trunk to close it no matter what since the latch is spring loaded. However, I didnt have any gap issues so maybe its something with overall fitment. I always make sure to close it with two hands off centered. Try using a consistent pressure rather than trying to quickly shut it. Anyway, not much help but but good luck!
