Anyone have a DIY on shaving battery covers?

I'm going to be taking my car in for some various random paint work (lip spoiler, mirrors, etc...) and I would like to body match part of my engine cover, and both battery covers. I don't know exactly how to shave the + Battery - out of the cover though.
Any DIYs or advice?

couple applications of Bondo and some sanding and you should be ready for paint I know that is how I'm going to do it for the JDM cover since the battery isn't there.

^I was a little concerned about the bondo actually bonding to the plastic cover.

You need to sand it down/off with some sand paper. Like 80 grit. The + Battery - part. Then lightly sand the whole piece with a higher grit. Finally fill the space with bondo

Thanks for the help Chris, but I'm not quite sure I completely understand what you're saying.
I'm I supposed to just sand it down enough to remove the extra texture in the plastic and then fill the + Battery - part, or completely sand the + Battery - out of it? It seems like the latter would take too much plastic away

sand to scuff, then bondo, then sand smooth, paint

Forgot the initial sand/scuff in first post, sorry.

You have to completely sand the + Battery - part down because if you just scuff and add bondo, it will be too raised up. I haven't done this myself Ashley but I saw the body shop that is doing mine right now do it this way which made sense to me. Then, take a lighter grit to the rest of the cover to very lightly scuff it (not really removing plastic). This is so the primer will have a rough surface to stick. This is basically how I did an OEM cover before.

Give me a call tomorrow if you want...I may just not be explaining it right lol I'm off work but running errands...just leave me a voicemail and I'll call you back if I don't answer.
