Is this a cheesy grille?

I've been wanting to get an aftermarket grille for ahwile now, and since I have an OB coupe, I wanted to go with a simple black grille. I was considering painting my stock grille black, but I drive back and forth between FL and MI several times per year, and the trip can be pretty brutal on my car - rock chip city. I'm aware that after painting any type of grille, chipping will become pretty prevalent and noticeable after awhile, and found this black "alternative" grille that doesn't require painting, hence less chipping and maintenance:

Is this a cheaply-made or ugly grille? Anyone have it? I am open to any suggestions. Thanks!

id recommend painting your grill your self. if you sand it down nicely using a high grit sand paper and put multiple coats on it, it should be able to withstand the "rock chip city". eventually you will have to repaint your whole car because of "rock chip city" anyways.

Open mouth style grilles are very popular. Just beware of fitment...

I'd recommend Ionic's grilles. Perfect fitment every time.

Don't make me change my mind DAG NABBIT I already had it set on the Gialla Replica. But...since you brought it up and you DO have the painted OEM grill...have you had a lot of chipping? Is it unmanageable?

Rattle can painted grill chips like crazy (well, the one I personally painted did).
Tons of tiny paint chips.

Just bought a professionally painted one off a local member and it only had chips from big debris/rocks. Used some black touch up paint on the very few rock chips it had. now it looks like new.Duribility is pretty much like your front bumper.

Mine never chipped. Not once. I spent a whole summer doing it, though...LOL. Off and on of course. An hour here and there throughout the summer. Bwahhaha. Rattle can FTW! Unless you're going gloss. Then the only way to get the perfectly gloss with clear reflections is professionally.

Haha, yah. That's why it took me all summer. All that damn sanding.

I'm actually looking for a stock grille now (and Imma keep it stock). I've gone through way too many grilles.

+1! So you finally got a professionally painted one huh. I still only had like one barely noticeable rock chip on mine. Took care of it with touch up paint though.
