Clear Corners, I know...

Clear Corners, I know...
I'll have to apologize if this has been covered. It's not about install, where to get them, etc.
My G35 is black and I feel that the straight clear corners draw too much attention, thus I wanted to get them slightly smoked. I looked into it further and folks are mentioning VHT or Testor's paint. My question is, is the clear plastic lens being painted? Is this on the outside or inside? Or is it the housing and the lens is left alone? Intuitively, it seems I should paint the housing. If not, next would be the inside of the lens, but then folks are mentioning about clear coating it...I'm a little lost in translation I think.
I was originally going to buy these from g35parts:

Until I stumbled across these on eBay. My only concern is with proper fitment issues some are talking about, while others are saying they are better than OEM!

Lastly, I don't know which is the 'bump' and 'w/o bump' style. I want whatever this one is

If you want to tint them yourself, get Testors Transparent Black paint from most any hobby store in the models section. Mask the back of the light housing and get to work painting. Light coats and wait 10 min between coats until the shade you want is achieved. Then use a clear over them as added protection, I found just the Testors alone was very thin and super easy to scuff without a few layers of clear coat over it. And there you go, that's all there is to it. I just did the stock orange ones on my Athens Blue because it was a bothersome eye sore. In daylight you can hardly tell they are really orange underneath, at night though you can tell and the light through them is still clearly visible. Try tinting the orange first and see how you like it, all it would cost is the ~$4.00 for the paint.

Got the lights a few days ago...boy we get ripped off here in Canada. 40 dollar product and 10 dollar tax/duty charge Install was actually disappointing how easy it was, I was hoping to have to use a screwdriver or something at least
I'm liking the clear look and have not painted, don't actually see myself doing that. The hue and brightness of the clear bulbs matches the DRL but I feel when the headlights are on they look kind of goofy and would prefer to have them match at least the hue. I'll have to look into LEDs more but for now, they are much better than the orange!
