painting carbon fiber hood black

i have a carbon fiber hood.. and im thinking of painting it black to match my car.. i was wondering is it going to be possibly to match my car? or is painting carbon fiber going to end up seeing the weaves and what not?? i have not seen a carbon fiber hood painted before.. anyone got a picture or know what it will turn out?

I don't think you should even bother painting it. Since your car is already black, it won't stick out as much anyway. Painted CF usually ends up with a darker shade than the rest of the car.

you should do a ghost carbon fiber look, where it is black but you still see the carbon fiber weaves

here is an example

you would have to sand down the clear coat on the cf hood before you paint too..right?

I still say you should just either buy it and leave it alone or don't get one at all. CF hood won't save you much weight anyway.

Honestly since your car is black I wouldn't bother to paint the hood. Is there something about the look of CF that bothers you? Black is the best color to rock CF parts because from a distance you can't tell, but then you get up close and notice it's a carbon piece. Any other color, paint it. Black, leave it be. Saves you the cost of the paint job anyway.

My opinion is actually the opposite of this lol. Personally, I think unpainted CF looks good on colors other than black. From far away it looks like your paint doesn't match. Small cf accents are ok, but I'd paint big parts like the hood, trunk, roof, fenders. The ghosting cf is cool though.

How is that "GHOST" appearance achieved?

I have a Silver coupe with a CF hood - just curious what a Silver Ghost CF hood would look like....that red looks insanely good!

^ Over reduced base can create that ghost effect.

^Add a tiny bit of base/ground to the clear to tint it , my hood is painted IP and matches exact

^So is there a way to take my black CF hood and "tint" it silver. I have a brillant silver coupe....I LOVE the way it is now, but just curious...

Hmmm does anyone have pics of a carbon fiber hood with some of the
"black ghosting" effect? on like an black obsidian.

I bet THAT would look dope or would it make to too dark and not able to see the cf?????
