Remove Spoiler...Now have no 3rd Brak Light
*Removed Spoiler...Now have no 3rd Brake Light
Does anyone have a solution for this? As you may know, the factory rear deck does not come with a 3rd brake light if the car originally came with a spoiler.
Are there any DIY mods to correct this---or a good source for a used non-spoiler rear deck? Or any other ideas? Thanks for you time.

If the spoiler came from the factory then the stock shelf did not have a third brake light. If it was added at the dealer or later the shelf did hav one. At least on 05-06's.
What are you doing with the spoiler? Do you want to sell it?
BTW you can buy the 3rd brake light on the rear deck from the dealer. Actually you can buy anything from the dealer.

I have this same problem on my 05 coupe. It's an ugly iron board spoiler that I've been itching to take off, but I have no decklid light. It's bull**** because just to take off my ugly OEM spoiler and put on my aftermarket spoiler essentially is going to cost about $1k which I'm not willing to do. Ugh...

It looks like a new rear shelf is available for around $230 from the dealer (not sure why it would be around $1000 unless the coupe has a very different design. I would probably do that install myself. I was just thinking someone may have figured out a mod to get a light in there, or know a good place to get a shelf for free.
The holes were shaved for "free" on my repaint. Insurance paid to have the trunk and spoiler painted. Instead of repainting the spoiler, the shop used that labor to weld/shave the holes.

I was just factoring in the cost of removing it, filling the holes and respraying the trunk, installing the new spoiler, and buying the rear decklid light assembly. I added it up a few months ago and it would've added up to about a grand.

Some states require a total of three brake lights to be street legal.
